Laura Thorne

Director of Communications and Policy

Laura has over ten years’ experience in public affairs and communications, implementing national and local change, providing strategic advice and delivering targeted, awareness-raising campaigns. Prior to joining The Urology Foundation, she was Head of Health Public Affairs at a communications and marketing agency.

Her expertise includes public affairs and policy; strategic campaigns; communications; issues management; and relationship building across Westminster and the devolved nations. She has worked collaboratively with pharmaceutical and MedTech companies, charities, patient groups, All-Party Parliamentary Groups and trade bodies to deliver positive change. She is a member of the Cancer52 Policy and Public Affairs Steering Group where she works to improve outcomes for people experiencing less common urology cancers. With over three years’ experience working for a Member of Parliament, she also has a strong understanding of the workings of Parliament and Government.

Laura has experience in the voluntary sector as a Trustee and Director of a national charity, providing strategic communications expertise, and also as a Trustee of a small local charity. She also volunteers her time as a peer-to-peer supporter for a local Community Interest Company.
