The Ciara McElvanna Urology Nursing Fund

Calling all urology nurses in Northern Ireland - grants of up to £850 each are available for 2 urology nurses to attend BAUN Conference 2026.

This fund has been set up in memory of Ciara McElvanna, a urology nurse who worked in Craigavon Area Hospital in Northern Ireland.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday, 6th September.

About Ciara

Ciara was a kind, dedicated and truly inspirational Urology Nurse Specialist. Her work ethic was steadfast and her vision was truly influential. An incredible role model and mentor to student nurses, Ciara brought dedication, patient centred focus and was committed to providing high quality care to urology nursing. This award seeks to uphold Ciara’s qualities and foster future nursing leadership to help and support Urology nurses.

How to apply

Please include the following information on hospital or practice letterhead (no more than two sides of A4):

  1. Your name, your current title and role, your professional or registration number and/or your professional body
  2. The reason for attending BAUN and the benefit that would be derived from attendance, i.e.
  • why you think this conference would help your development (highlighting aspects from the academic programme)
  • how attending this conference will help your department
  • how attending this conference will help urology patients

As well as the above, please also include:

  1. A letter of support from the head of department or supervisor
  2. A current curriculum vitae (pertinent details only – maximum of two pages)

The final collated application documents should be sent to grants@theurologyfoundation.org by 12:00 on WEDNESDAY 6th SEPTEMBER.

Criteria and reviewing process

Applications are open to urology nurses living and working in Northern Ireland.

The grant of up to £850 can be used for costs associated with attending the BAUN conference.

Receipts/evidence of payment must be retained in order to claim the award.

50% of the award will be advanced upfront and the remaining 50% when a report has been provided.

Applications will be reviewed by The Urology Foundation and nursing colleagues from Northern Ireland.
