RoboSTART - 18th September & 13th November

Basic Robotic Simulation Skills

This course is for Trainees, Fellows, or Consultants wanting to start their training as a console surgeon.

Led by GSTT and IMRA’s faculty of experts, this course introduces robotic surgery’s technical and human factors through direct experience using advanced virtual reality and synthetic organ simulations.

Participants work towards building the psychomotor skills required to safely operate a range of robotic surgical platforms and how
platforms can be best utilised in clinical practice.

This course includes:

-Robotic surgical platform components, features, setup requirements, and troubleshooting measures.

-Practice building core psychomotor skills for robotic surgery.

-The basic skills required for the surgical 1st assistant.

Our robotic platforms:

IMRA training takes place across multiple robotic platforms – depending on the workshop, you may have the opportunity to use Da Vinci, Hugo, and Versius robotic platforms.

RoboREADY Partial Nephrectomy - 19th September

Robotic Assisted Partial Nephrectomy Course

This course is intended for any Urology trainees or fellows hoping to further their knowledge and experience with robotic assisted Partial Nephrectomy.

Through hands-on sessions with life-like anatomical models and expert guidance, participants will develop their skills in robotic-assisted surgery, focusing on key procedural steps, setup, and optimal techniques.

Course Objectives
This course is designed to advance participants’ skills and knowledge in key areas, including:

-Hands-on experience using various robotic platforms.
-Guidance on operating room setup and the essential equipment for robotic abdominal cavity procedures.
-Step-by-step procedural breakdown.
-Techniques for safe surgical assistance during robotic partial nephrectomy.
-Essential robotic techniques, tips, and tricks.

NSTC Robotic Urology Course - 8th & 9th October 2026

Course Director: Mr Bhavan Rai, Consultant Urological Surgeon

Target Audience: Consultants and Advanced Trainees

This course is designed to facilitate the surgeon with didactic and hands-on cadaveric training experience. Conducted by a faculty of experienced surgeons, this is an intensive two day course of lectures, debate, exchange and practical hands-on experience on procedures using the Da Vinci Robot.

Aims & Objectives

– To become familiar with the function and operation of the Da Vinci Surgical System, the ergonomics and the available robotic instrumentation.

– To learn robotic tissue dissection techniques using monopolar, bipolar, harmonic and plasma kinetic energy in robotic surgery.

– To understand the selection process for patient position, Da Vinci surgical team position and robotic surgical approaches.
