Taking the Lead

Support and Training for New Consultants

The objective of the course is to support consultants in the first half of their career who are looking for new challenges and who wish to lead change in their profession.

Taking the Lead

The objective of the course is to support consultant urologists and uro-oncologists who have been in post for two to ten years and are balancing the competing demands that the role of a busy consultant brings. It is also about supporting and developing the future leaders in urology; those who are interested in playing a role in the development of the profession.

Areas covered include working effectively within the challenging environment of today’s NHS, influencing change, the ramifications of working in an ever more litigious age, a media training session, working to long term goals and the future of urology within the wider healthcare sector.

The meeting is participative with discursive content and input from faculty members and delegates in all sessions allowing for real interaction and discussion on both general issues and the real problems that face consultants everyday.

The course is limited to 12 delegates, meaning a high faculty-to-delegate ratio of 1:2

Feedback from previous Taking the Lead courses:

"The weekend has been informative and inspiring."

"The speakers have delivered lectures on topics very useful for my consultant practice but not discussed in mainstream urology meetings."

"Very useful course for consultants in the mid phase of their career."
