As 2019 draws to a close, I would like to thank you for supporting The Urology Foundation (TUF) and its vital work.
Whether you donated to an appeal, took part in a challenge, or attended an event, your support plays an integral role in helping us to end urology disease and the suffering it causes.
I am proud to be a supporter of TUF, as well as being its Chief Executive. It is a cause that I care passionately about because I’ve seen urology disease affect people I know. I even completed my fourth TUF cycle challenge this year for the charity. But thanks to your support, care and treatment for millions of people with a cancer or condition of their kidneys, bladder, prostate or male reproductive system is being transformed across the UK.
Since TUF was established there has been a step change in the treatment and care available to urology patients.
Over the last 25 years the charity is largely responsible for the safe introduction of minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery in the UK, from which so many patients have now benefited. Research that The Urology Foundation has funded as led to Botox being used as a treatment for overactive bladder and the development of a potential urine test to diagnose bladder cancer.
Without your support, and others like you, these achievements and many more would not have been possible. Put simply, more people can access the best urology treatment and care thanks to your commitment.
Thank you again for all your support which has seen such remarkable progress in urology health care for the benefit for all patients.
I wish you a very Happy Christmas and the very best for 2020.
Louise de Winter
