Rebecca Porta is Chief Executive of The Urology Foundation.
Her career in the voluntary sector spans over 30 years and she has held senior roles within some of the UK’s leading health and medical research charities including The Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Migraine Trust, CancerBACUP (now Macmillan Cancer Support) and the British Lung Foundation. She was Chief Executive of Orchid Cancer Appeal, the male cancer charity for over 11 years and was responsible for driving transformation and growth including the introduction of Nurse-led Services, training for healthcare professionals and national media campaigns. She led representational and campaigning work of the charity and was involved in setting up the All Party Parliamentary Group on Male Cancer launched in 2019 - Orchid provided the Secretariat. In 2020 she was appointed Chief Executive of Bowel Research UK, responsible for overseeing the merger of two medical research charities and the launch of the new charity.
She is Acting Chair of Cancer52, an alliance of 100 organisations working to address the issue of inequality for rare and less common cancers. She is a member of ACEVO (Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations), the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), PRCA (The Public Relations and Communications Association) and Women in PR.
