Grant Stewart

Grant is the Professor of Surgical Oncology at the University of Cambridge with a broad and impactful portfolio of clinical and translational research and a particular interest in optimising early detection and management of patients with initially localised renal cell cancer; with an aim of guideline and policy change for patient benefit. He is an Honorary Consultant Urologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge where he offers all forms of treatment for kidney cancer. He has been Programme lead of the Urological Malignancies and Integrated Cancer Medicine Programmes at the CRUK Cambridge Centre since early 2020.

Prior to moving to the University of Cambridge in 2015, Grant was Senior Lecturer in Urological Surgery at the University of Edinburgh, where he led the Edinburgh Urological Cancer Group and developed, and continues to co-direct, the Scottish Collaboration on Translational Research into Renal Cell Cancer (SCOTRRCC).

Beyond chairing the Scientific and Education Committee of the Urology Foundation, Grant is Director of Academic Clinical Foundation Training in Cambridge. He is also a Section Editor of the British Journal of Urology International, a member of the Association of Academic European Urologists, Trustee of Kidney Cancer UK and a Fellow of Selwyn College, Cambridge. 

Prof Stewart joined the SEC in 2014 and was appointed Chairman in March 2018.
