Imran Ahmad is currently Professor of Urological Oncology at the CRUK Scotland Institute and the University of Glasgow. His current research interest is in understanding the mechanisms of treatment-resistance in advanced prostate cancer, work in his laboratory looks at the interplay between metabolism, the immune system and disease progression.

Addressing health inequalities is a key priority and a personal passion for Imran. In Glasgow there are stark disparities, with male life expectancy dropping over 15-years in just a few tube stops. As Chair of the TUF’s SEC, he is keen to support research that not only identifies disparities in access, outcomes, and patient experience, but also tries to address practical interventions to reduce them.

As an Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, he has a special interest in robotic surgery for advanced prostate and bladder cancer. He is passionate about improving functional outcomes without compromising oncological control, refining techniques to enhance early continence recovery, improve erectile function, reduce morbidity, and improve overall quality of life.
