Healthcare Professionals

Our Programmes

The aim of The Urology Foundation is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of urological diseases through the development and support of medical education programmes and the sponsorship of basic scientific research.

Medical Education

The overall objective of our medical education programme series is to provide education and training for healthcare professionals working in the field of urology with the ultimate aim of improving patient choice, care and management.

We believe that patients with urological disease in the UK should have access to the most advanced diagnostic, surgical and therapeutic treatment options available so that they have the best possible treatment outcome.

We have expanded our medical education programmes to support specialist registrars, surgical teams and also non clinical scientists working in the field of urology as well as consultant surgeons.

These new programmes have been enthusiastically welcomed and we plan to continue to develop them further.

Scientific Research

The Foundation has a long history of supporting basic scientific research which was an integral part of the training to become a consultant urological surgeon.

Over the last few years there have been significant changes to the training programme for consultant urologists with basic scientific research no longer being a prerequisite to becoming a consultant.

Basic scientific research, however is critical to the advancement of diagnosis and treatment of urological diseases and The Foundation continues to support it through our annual research scholarship programme and through travel grants for non clinical scientists.
